Step up and make a difference

Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 17.20.32This summer elections to the Church of England General Synod for the period 2015 – 2020 will take place.

The General Synod is the national assembly of the Church of England, commonly referred to as the Church’s Parliament. It considers and approves legislation affecting the whole of the Church of England, authorises new forms of worship, debates matters of religious and public interest, and approves the annual budget for the work of the Church at national level.

This is a critical part of shaping the future of our church not just nationally but here in Durham. If you have the passion and energy to help chart the future of being church in the Diocese of Durham and across the Church of England we want to hear from you.

A message from Bishop Paul

“We have been talking about our plan-on-a-page and have outlined that to ‘Bless our communities in Jesus’ name for the transformation of us all’ everyone of us needs to step up and volunteer using our gifts. So please get involved, please play your part by either putting your own name forward or by supporting other candidates.

“Thank you for the way in which you will pray about this and respond.”

More details on the process and background to being a member of General Synod can be found here
